Tell me about it! I had about 2 terabites of traffic with them. I've been locked out for a month. But it's been nearly 3 weeks since I had a strike against my name. I had over 2,000 clips on this site with them!!!
I deleted ALL my nude clips with them BEFORE they locked me out!

I've got a few videos uploaded one Bear in the Big Blue House-Clean Up the Truck(yeah I know I'm just a big kid at heart, but I liked the tune) has nearly 40,000 'hits' and it has been there for months, never had any e-mails about copyright and it was done from Playhouse Disney-which I don't think exists anymore.
mitchspur-I was fortunate to make a list of all the files I uploaded but unless there is an free adult host out there I doubt they will ever see the light of day here again.

No they dont From someone who used to work for a filehost - its all automated "No one opens the files by hand, it's all automated. If a copyright complaint is sent by the owner of material, the file they request to be deleted is deleted without review. This is the same on all sites. No one checks your file to make sure it's what the complaint says it is." source http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/t19...takedowns.html My best guess and thats all it is is now if you rack up enough DMCA notices and your account is both large, download numbers high and there coming from forums / blogs etc their more than likely going to terminate it.Afterall their core business is corporate customers not us. edit Seems if your account is large and too many files are not actively downloaded enough your account or content could be terminated or removed

videos too. Those Rapidshare sonzabeeches deleted a video from a class reunion I'd made and was sharing with some former classmates.Their response was as automated as the manner in which is was deleted......with no thought and no manner in which to retrieve it. In that vein.....all sites most definitely do not operate in the same manner. With some sites, if a file is to be deleted....... each and every file exactly like it is deleted as well.....others only the particular file associated with the link that might have been reported by someone for breaching DMCA rules or laws. One thing you absolutely can be sure of, is if a file host site is under the gun and being scrutinized heavily by the "authorities"......you might as well get ready to lose some files. |

"basic" and "extended" sharing replaced by "Persistent Storage" which should be OFF if security is a concern. Was set to ON, changed to OFF. _____ b) At My Account -> Performance there are two items - Persistent Storage - Instant Uploads Both set to OFF but after leaving MF, closing browser (Firefox), cleaning all cookies and temp files, and re-start option ON still displayed at "Persistent Storage". ![]() Btw: "Persistent Storage" at Security and Privacy remains OFF.

Based on this thread and on other comments I've read, even though it's incredibly inconvenient and more expensive, I would always recommend keeping another copy of anything you upload to any file site. The risk of losing it is just too high.
I keep things on external drives, but those are prone to failure, as well. I prefer to also copy more important (things I really want to keep) files to DVD's. I may be the last person on the planet still doing this, but I have Elle McPherson pics on a 20-year-old CD that I can drop into any reader at any time, and it still works. Now it takes forever, and you have to "budget" what you want to save, but I'll have copies long after they disappear from upload sites, or even external hard drives. One weird story happened to me recently...I made the mistake of walking into a Staples store to look at external hard drives. One of their overly aggressive sales people that they have now, came up to me and said, "Have you considered Carbonite Online Backup?" "I'm just looking." Now I could have said, "Yeah sure, let me upload all of my data to some web site, instead of keeping my own copy, and hope you don't lose it, you don't root through it, or let some hacker in and steal it. And that's assuming you don't automatically delete files you don't like, including your upload software deleting the copy on my hard drive. Yeah, no thanks." Then the salesman got pushier, and I had to say that I was just looking three times, before I walked out of the store with nothing. Obviously, the "cloud" storage sites are looking less and less attractive, because of the negative publicity, and so they're pushing their services more and more. Not treating the customers here like crap would help their businesses, if that's really their agenda. Last edited by a435843; 10-18-2012 at 07:33 PM.. Reason: Fixed Typos |

Checking some files on my MF account, I just noticed something unusual :
a "copyright" icon near the name of one of these files : By moving my mouse on the icon, an explantion appeared : "this file is copyrighted" First time I see that and I didn't received any notification for now from Mediafire. I had a "strike" and 1 file reported months ago for copyright violation, so I'm careful with them. But it was only one in a series of 100 or more in the same thread... And i have 250 Go stored there. Lot of my posts are randomly or systematically copyed & pasted by assholes or robots on other "sensible" forums that are daily checked. More than DMCA campaigns, major companies or hosts, the main problem on Net is these assholes who hack your posts and flood all possible existing forums. Thanks-whores, bread-posters, flooders, Tourette syndrom : ban them all ! Well, not sure it helps, but I'm of course going to delete this marked "JBliss" file.. Pity.

Mediafire state very specifically their not for long term storage just sharing
and many of their statements leave a lot of room for them to do what they wish. I use them but having had one free user account cleaned out due to my own apathy with titling I mirror most on another host which I think will be around for awhile just incase of the worst case scenario. The last time it came about 1 host died after the other deleted everything leads to - Never consider anything uploaded online as actually existing and you'll be ahead of the game Commons sense should say save a copy offline and back that up on a flash drive if you can afford it if you truly value the content....store in a fire proof box take out periodically to see that it still works This one is key for free users at least In addition, the Free account must not give the appearance of data warehousing (storing huge amounts of files without significant download activity). What significant means is anyones guess Maybe for premium what they say towards files retention is true but thats cold comfort for the number of premium accounts they've killed off in the past 15 months. How long will my uploaded files be stored? Anonym zu knowledgebase.mediafire.com/article.php?id=100 MediaFire is designed to be used as a File Sharing service, not as a data warehousing service. There isn’t a time limit on how long files will be stored, but MediaFire Free accounts holders must log in at least once a year to protect their accounts from deletion. In addition, the Free account must not give the appearance of data warehousing (storing huge amounts of files without significant download activity). Four email notifications will be sent prior to removing files from our servers because of account inactivity. When files are deleted due to inactivity, they will be deleted from all servers and cannot be retrieved. For further information, please review our Data Retention Policy at Anonym zu www.mediafire.com/policies/data_retention.php

It seems that I'm no longer able to upload to my free account. It tried to upload a RAR archive the past few days at various times but I always got the failure message:
