Wink A Little Knowledge...

It takes 1 calorie of energy to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree Celsius.

That means that if you eat a cold dessert, as your body raises the consumed dessert to body temperature it uses calories in the process.

For example, a dessert served and eaten at a standard fridge temperature of 5 degrees C (41.0 deg.F) will, in a short time be raised to the normal body temperature of 37 degrees C (98.6 deg. F). For each gram of dessert eaten, that process uses 32 calories. The average dessert portion size is 6 oz, or 168 grams. Therefore, 5,376 calories (1 cal./gm/deg. x 32 deg. x 168 gm) are burned as the dessert is brought up to body temperature.

Allowing for say, 1,200 calories in the dessert, the net calorie loss is over 4,100 calories. Obviously, the colder the dessert is, the better off you are, and the faster you will lose weight, if that is your goal. Otherwise just eat more hot food to cancel it out.

This method works equally well when drinking cold (5 deg C) beer. Each 100ml of beer contains on average 40 calories, but extracts 320 calories.

1 pint = 568ml, so the 227 calories in a pint are wiped out by the 18,176 calories used to warm it in your stomach.

Frozen desserts like ice cream, are even more beneficial, since it takes 18 (typical freezer temperature is -18 deg C) cal/gm to melt them and an additional 37 cal/gm to further raise them to body temperature. The results here are much more beneficial, and are superior to regular exercise.

Unfortunately, for those who eat food hot*. This type of food is loaded with calories as it is served above body temperature** and causes the opposite effect. But thankfully, as the solution is to drink a lot of cold beer and follow up immediately with large cold desserts or ice cream.

*'Spicy' hot food which causes reddening of the face and sweating, can be considered exercise as the symptoms are exactly the same as for traditional exercise, and have the added benefit of not raising heart rate in the process. Once again, the use of Ice cream will not only 'put out the fire', but will cancel out most, if not all of the calories.

**Cold junk food from the previous day, (such as Pizza) also burns calories, especially if eaten straight from the fridge.

It will come as no surprise that there is a downside to this regimen, and that is washing up. But then that's why Junk food and ice cream come in containers you can eat from, instead of needing to use crockery. As for cutlery... Just like fingers, they can be sucked clean.

Looking for a favourite, but you don't know her name? There's a thread here, that may help. It's for known models only, don't post requests, or you will be 'Mod-ified.'
