Did they happen to show any footage from the "Beauty and the Beach" contest (maybe it's 1993) with Joey Lawrence as one of the judges? That was a WILD year. I loved one of the girls, and I haven't been able to find any pics or videos of her anywhere. Her name might have been Jenny or Jennifer O'Brien, but I'm not 100% certain. In one segment (I think Dr. Dre is announcing her), this girl blows the crowd away by pulling out all the stops. She's dressed in a cute white top, very short denim miniskirt, white ankle socks, white thong, and heels. Then she climbs up on this monkey bar and hangs herself upside down on it, and Joey Lawrence's jaw drops! And no wonder -- she was gorgeous, hanging there with her skirt around her head and neck and her legs spread up on the bar. Even Dr. Dre sounds like he's losing it. Does anyone recall seeing this?

Yeah, that was the 1993 contest where they happened. On the MTV Spring Break Uncesored program they do show that clip. The Spring Break Top 20 moments only show small, quick clips of some of the contestants including the contestant who wore the Stars and Stripes Slingshot Bikini. The Ultimate Spring Break Bash VHS shows a lot more of the contenstants from 1993 but I don't think that specific clip is on. I wish I could find that contest in its entirety, but it's nearly impossible. Thanks to Berigan for at least posting clips from the 1992 clips. But all four contests that ran from 1992-1995 are obscure at best. I did have the MTV Spring Break Uncesored on tape but lost in the last ten years. Not to take away from the discussion on MTV Beauty and Beach but I though I'd also post links to three YouTube channels that feature some great classic bikini contest footage. Does anyone have any of the Girls of Hawaiian Tropic videos or specials that were on TV in the 1990's. Downtown Julie Brown used to host a late night syndicated show called "America's Most Beautiful" which featured many of the hot 1990's bikini models.

I know I have mentioned it before, but somewheres...I really do have that footage from the MTV show with Joey Lawrence with his mouth wide open. I just have to copy it to DVD....once I find the tape....and get the jammed tape out of the VCR.
Anyway, until that day, way, way in the future, here is a clip of mainly Deprise Brescia(Other Girls seen for 15-30 seconds, Monica Lange, Lynn Doyle, Kristine Bresch, Julie Clark, Laura Helton) from a Bikini Open show.

Harry, how did an outfit like ERI work to the best of your knowledge ?

With the California Girl Bikini Classics, was that a production he staged and OSCARS just was the venue ?

Or did OSCARS stage and hold the copyrights, and ERI/Ed Rasen secured the video rights ?

I tend to think the 1st scenario, only because I know some of the girls were PAID to appear in the contest/video, regardless of whether or not they won any prize money. Ginger Miller told me she was paid for CGBC #5 (not sure about #3) and while I am not sure of the dates for her appearances (it may have been before or after she was announced as a Penthouse Pet of the Month) it was well before she was POTY. So there wouldn't have been much notoriety to her being in the video(s) or any of the other girls.

But if Ed knew certain girls on the 'circuit' had to be in the videos for them to be a commercial success, then that would explain why some/all of the girls were getting appearance fees regardless of whether they won any prize money that was offered by OSCARS (or ERI, or both, depending on who footed the prize money bill).

And I presume that anybody in the contest, appearance fee or not, signed a video release.

Here's something a bit different: An ERI California Girl Bikini Contest video ad from PENTHOUSE.

The girls in the description do NOT apparently match the thumbnail photo above. I know that #3 referenced Ginger Miller and while I thought originally that the girl in the black sling bikini might be her, it's clearly Christie Mitchell. And #12 references Jeannie Sweet but the photo IS of Ginger Miller.

Can any of you unscramble or ID any of the other girls? I venture that the names below are not who the photo is. And who are the 2 girls with the big face pictures in the main layout right under "California Girls" ??

Vol. 9 says Bianca McEachin (who did a small amount of bikini stuff including a short series called Dream Babies) but the pic clearly isn't her since Bianca's black. I was shocked to recently discover she went the porn route as Cassandra Curves.
