Things Noticeable this week
3 things that I have observed this week.
1) The breathtakingly stupid fool that allowed an aircraft and fighter jet to fly over New York when New Yorkers are already nervous about any aircraft that flies lower than it should-Air Force One, belonging to President Obama-not his fault he was just as furious as anyone else, but what struck me was not even the Mayor knew about this ludicrous "photo-opportunity" Remember the pilot that landed the plane in the Hudson river back in January? No wonder Americans are jittery. 2) Jordan(Katie Price) and hubby Peter Andre running the marathon and coming last in the line up of celebs running. The winner of them all was Nell McAndrew-the last time she ran was the Great North Run and one of those she did a few years ago cost her a baby(she had a miscarriage soon after) If models ran and did a bit more for charity would they be any more or any less liked by ladsmag readers. The real winners are the charities and the lives of people that they can make better through this money-35,000 can't be wrong and footsore but happy. 3) On the subject of ladsmags shame on the editor of FHM for telling bubbly, vivacious Kirsten O'Brien that she wasn't w*nk material-I mean let her down gently for heaven sake don't bulldoze her into submission. Funny that FRONT magazine wanted her for a shoot though but she turned it down. She couldn't pout, couldn't dance or poll dance and was too giggly(well she is a stand up comedienne that worked with kids for 16 years) and yet in her programme on Wednesday she was seen in a red dress and a little black number and she looked amazing-did anyone see that show-if not catch it on BBC3 iplayer www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer and tell me she couldn't be a sexy little minx if she wanted to. Thats all folks.

Britain's David Haye beat giant Russian Nikolay Valuev on points to be crowned WBA heavyweight champion in Nuremberg.
Congrats - I didn't think he could do it...

Whoo hoo go David, what a bout, I listened in on Radio5Live last night and was with him all the way-most of the pre-fight commentary was ruined by that arch arse Steve 'cockney' Bunce-his voice grated on me several times as he got more and more animated-what a shame that this fight wasn't on terrestrial tv like the BBC or dare I say it ITV1. Either way I yelled out hooray when they awarded the bout and the World title to Haye. That MC Michael someone or other from America must be raking it in with his "LET'S GET READY TO RUMMMMBBBBBBBLE" yell
So the postmen are back and Christmas postings are saved for now-nice of them to sort it out at last-but how long will it hold? Would be nice if they lowered the price of first class stamps for once but I fear another price increase next April. Finally today is Remembrance Sunday-the day we give thanks to those brave men and women that gave their lives in two World Wars and later campaigns including the Falklands, Gulf and Afghanistan. "Wear your poppy with pride" is the motto of the Royal British Legion and that is exactly what I did this week and last-Don't forget to stop whatever you are doing for just two minutes on Wednesday morning at 11am-known as Armistice Day, on the guns fell silent at the eleventh hour, on the eleventh day, of the eleventh month 11/11/11 if you like. It shows you care and we must NEVER EVER FORGET-as the line goes in the popular poem "At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we WILL remember them."

I read that Brown did not bow his head after laying his wreath at the Remembrance day service at the Cenotaph.

Even if you don't like Gordon, don't kick the man for making human errors or for eye problem-obviously they've never heard of "To err is human, to forgive divine."

Gordon Brown is no favourite of mine but I am not impressed by the fuss being made by The Sun over his incorrect spelling of the poor dead soldier's name. He did at least write to the guys' family personally in longhand, which is better than most of his predecessors did in similar circumstances. In my opinion The Sun is neither an honest nor an honourable contributor to public debate: they are spinning this story faster than the angle grinder they use to sharpen their axe with. They have a bit of a track record for not telling the story quite straight.

I dislike Gordon Brown but I sincerely detest The Sun, News of the World, Rupert Murdoch and everything he infects with his mere existence. And I am ashamed to say I am a subscriber to the evil BSkyB: thats where you have to go to watch live test cricket these days. History will judge Gordon Brown very harshly, but my gut loathing is reserved for The Sun, a dirty tube for sewage and propaganda to pass through and a debasement of our culture. Page Three girls are the only clean and decent thing about The Sun.

I don't want to get into a Question Time type debate or argument-remember this thread is for light-hearted stories and things noticeable so I think its best I don't add any answers to the above-suffice to say that I agree with some of it, not all-and lets leave it at that okay

It's perfectly understandable for grieving relatives to vent their anger and frustration against the politicians who sent their loved ones to war, but when a newspaper uses this grief and anger to launch a smear campaign in such a personal manner as the Sun has in this case it's nothing short of gutter journalism of the worse kind. Absolutely disgraceful. Heaven knows, we've all got reasons to be p***d off at Gordon Brown but any fair minded person should have some sympathy for him on this one.
