Bayern President Uli Hoeneß

The Bayern president believes their Bundesliga rivals will smilingly look at the situation at the Allianz Arena following the recent public criticism

Bayern Munick president Uli Hoeness believes sporting director Matthias Sammer's recent criticism of the team can only serve to harm them.

The Germany legend voiced his dissatisfaction with his side's performance in the 2-0 win over Hannover at the weekend, but Hoeness believes any unrest within the club will leave their rivals laughing.

"If you criticise the team too often, it becomes less effective. I'm in favour of occasionally criticising things to make sure nobody is getting carried away, but the situation at Bayern doesn't merit any criticism at the moment," Hoeness told Bild.

"The people at Dortmund are laughing their arse off. You almost get the impression that we have to apologise for a sovereign 2-0 win.

"I will definitely discuss this with Sammer, because people get the wrong impression, which is a bad thing. It's almost as if we have lost three games and drew the other two."

Bayern currently sit second in the Bundesliga table with 13 points from five games, trailing leaders.
