It's not about wanting proof. It's about integrity.
Absolutely every picture you will ever see on the Internet is just pixels. A sufficiently talented and patient individual could manually build a perfectly credible picture of absolutely anything you can imagine, carefully selecting and placing every single individual pixel, one pixel at a time. That's why claiming that _any_ picture is "proven" to be "real" is a mug's game, and you'll note I've never made that claim about the revealing photos originally posted. I believe they're genuine because there is absolutely nothing to indicate that they aren't, and the recent news that Emma Watson's people sent a takedown notice over them supports that belief... But it's still belief, not knowledge.
But the one sozelle posted, claiming it to be the original, is a clearly proven, demonstrated fake. anybody can zoom in on the picture in any image viewer, and see the edits as plain and clear as if they were done with construction paper and a glue stick.
Promoting that fake image as real is a stain on VEF's integrity.
I don't like hacking of people's private images. I want to see Emma Watson naked as much as the next guy, and more than most, but not by violating her privacy, breaking into her (or her friends' and employees') private accounts to steal pictures.
But you don't combat hacking by polluting the discussion with fakes. You don't undo sleazery by shedding your integrity.
