At work I've seen some ideas mooted for data protection that are pretty much the same as data destruction, the idea being broken down to its simplest form is that if we do not hold it no one can access it, that's all very well and good in the fantasy world some of our managers live in; apart from the fact that we hold important information that may help people get access to benefits lost through piss-poor past management within public services.
