There's no doubt that HD video tech. requires more appreciation of factors which it's lo-res predecessors didn't need to, due to the 'softening' effect inherent to the old technology.
I think hi-res is better overall, but needs to be adapted to. Which fast production motivated cowboys will never do.
Sooty Studios three or four Fiona Cooper videos a month must seem like an idyll when shoot and upload the same day gets to be a norm. Also, I find models doing sessions to help pay for their still livid scars after bust 'enhancement' surgery distressing.
