The $500 billion number is pure fiction. It is merely designed to attract publicity, which in this case, it succeeded.
The only allegations about damages which are required in a court case is that the amount of damages to be sought in the case exceed the jurisdictional minimum for that particular court.
Everything beyond that is pure puffery and wishful thinking.
