They are indeed beautiful animals!

Some people do put themselves in harms way that is true, but out here I am surrounded by woods and nature, and it is quite easy to bump into elks here. Usually they will run off, but as mentioned earlier, if it's a mother and calf - watch out! you do not always see both of them 'til it is too late.

Fortunately, elks are very strong smelling and you can usually tell when there is one close by, so you can be on your guard.


PS. They are great to eat too! A bit like beef if cooked right.
