Giuseppe Torelli was an Italian violist, violinist, teacher and composer during the middle Baroque period. Torelli is most remembered for contributing to the development of the instrumental concerto, especially concerti grossi, and the solo concerto for strings and continuo(accompaniment), as well as being a prolific composer of music for the trumpet. He composed all kinds of music, sonatas, symphonies, concerti grossi and over 30 trumpet concertos. I have a wonderful two disc set of all of his trumpet concertos.
