continuing my efforts to share the work of excellent german photographers of the vintage era, I think East German Helmut Stege deserves inclusion as he was a prolific photographer of nudist FKK images thoughout the 50's through to the 70's when he retired. Helmut's images were widley published in the DDR, Jaybird and H&E and many other naturist publications around the world.


He worked out of a studio at Bockstrasse 1 (see photo) in the historic city of Quedlingburg in the Harz mountain area which became Saxon Anhalt after the reunification of Germany. He took most of his images at the Ostsee (Baltic) DDR FKK beaches. As far as I can establish his studio was active from 1938 to 1964 when it was handed over to his wife Irmgard who ran it until 1979 when it was taken over by Helmut's apprentice Georg Duve who ran it till 2005.
