afaik leading zero's to gain a fixed value length aren't supported - this example leads to pic1.jpg, pic2.jpg, ...

but honestly, i wouldn't recommend to rename them. very often a filename includes useful info.
Thank you. I found the following gives you 2 leading zeros:

pic*inum*.jpg

resulting in pic001.jpg, pic002.jpg and so on.
