It's been discussed in the past, I think, although maybe not in this thread.
It's often just part of being a TS. If a man is taking female hormones to become more feminine (often in preparation to have the final surgery to completely become a woman), his testosterone levels are severely diminished. It's hard for him to become erect, let alone ejaculate.
Of course, there's also the psychological aspect. Shemales want to be women (generally speaking; I mean, very,
very few do it just as a porn gimmick). Because of that, there's a huge part of their minds that rejects the idea of being a man. This makes for a good chance of impotency.
With modern shemales, they can take Viagra (or the equivalent) to get strong erections, if they're going to perform on camera. Then they can usually manage at least a weak orgasm (usually through masturbation). Your "vintage" shemales, though, didn't have that chemical advantage.
