You don't need to install it or uninstall your existing OS. Download the ISO file, stick it on a pen drive and boot from it.
It doesn't run as fast as the "normal" installation on a hard-drive but it is fully-functional and runs OK. Also, al lot of folks install Ubuntu and run as double-boot system. Useful if anyone wants to give it a try without committing to it.

Also enables you to snoop on someone's pc without leaving any trace, or load inappropriate files on their computer without anybody being able to find out it was you. Just boot the OS from the memory stick, and away you go, look at/transfer any files you like on the hard-drive.
I'm not saying you SHOULD do that, I'm just saying you COULD...........
