According to the Prosecutors with the County District Attorney office, the whole thing was a big scam to separate well do gooders from their $, even the part about the homeless guy giving his last $20 to the woman when she ran out of gas.
First time I read the story about this before they even started a GoFund Me page, I had my suspicion.
If you are homeless and a drug addict, are you going to 1. hold on to your last $20 and not use it for another high?
and
2. give your last $20 to a stranger who ran out of gas in her car - a stranger who is in a better financial and socio-economical position than you are?
Absolutely Not!
