I really liked Road Games (2015), it's a tight psychological thriller with a refreshingly different setting in rural France.
The setting & general vibe of being in a creepy situation in France when French isn't your first language reminded me of the also excellent thriller
And Soon the Darkness (1970) with
Pamela Franklin.
I'd recommend both if you've not seen them.
