We work with multiple advertisers. A client's server was hacked and the advertisement was replaced with malicious advertisement. From what we know many other websites were affected as well - this was not an issue isolated to imagebam.

My conclusion:
always use an addblocker for the image hosts, their advertising partners just cannot be trusted.
