Not necessarily a "blessing" -- the status quo essentially prevented a European war for 70 years, but you can see how the game is changing.
Europeans have real security threats, ones where they can no longer trust their security to the US.
Putin may wind up with a rearmed -- possibly even a nuclear-- Germany.
