The only difference between the free W10 upgrade and the bought one is the system its on
Upgrading on an old PC had all the potential driver issues etc to over come
A new PC going forward will probably be fine until a windows update causes an issue
with a 3rd party piece of software or hardware for a time.
With cumulative patching now in there will be no avoiding it
Actually Windows 7 updates wont be ending until 2020 , Windows 8 - 2023
What occurred earlier this year slowed updates down to a snails pace in slow motion or a infinite loop.There were various solutions which worked for awhile month after month.
Took me about 5 Key bulletin downloads from the MS windows catalogue
before updates were working normally.
