Again, deviating slightly off topic but this is a useful discussion in general. Sometimes when I upload to my preferred host DepositFiles the file will apparently upload OK, but we just get an error message when attempting to download it (even immediately after U/L): ' This file does not exist, the access to the following file is limited or it has been removed due to infringement of copyright'. The way around this is to ZIP the file with a password. I reckon the situation with other hosts is similar.

However I agree that a file will always be removed in response to a DMCA request, regardless.

Here is an example, if I upload this file is in 'raw' AVI form then I get the error message on attempted DF download but if I ZIP with a password then I do not - disbelievers can try it!:
