There is an excellent book called "Havana before Castro" by Moruzzi (Its easily found on Amazon for a decent price). It goes through all of the things that made Havana a paradise before 1959. Moruzzi devotes a chapter of the book to Havana's nightlife including its "red light" clubs. In addition to sex clubs Havana also had "female impersonators" (no need to say what that meant...). There are some pictures of these places, as well as of the performers.
BTW Graham Greene, author of Our Man in Havana, was a frequent visitor to these most bawdy tourist destinations and based some of the book on actual experiences.
