Today's round of WTF comes from Princeton University.

They have a class called Anthropology 212: Cultural Freedoms: Hate Speech, Blasphemy, and Pornography. The objective of the course on freedom of expression as described by Department Chair Carolyn Rouse, was to have students “be able to argue why hate speech should or should not be protected using an argument other than ‘because it made me feel bad.’”

Enter Professor Lawrence Rosen. During the first seminar of the class, he posed the following question to his students: “What is worse, a white man punching a black man, or a white man calling a black man a n****r?”

As the Professor used the actual n-word, the expected pandemonium, outrage, swooning, and general mayhem ensured. According to the campus newspaper, a student of color got in the Professor's face with an emotional "fuck you!", while students walked out of class, and generally couldn't deal.

The professor will never get an answer to his question. He later announced the class had been cancelled.

Irony, anyone?
I assume none of those people attending have ever seen Blazing Saddles?
