Thanks for the tips in this thread, IHG is still the best ripping tool for my purposes so here's my lo-tech method that seems to keep it running. I have Firefox 42 or 43 and ignore alerts that want me to update it. When I start FF I open the Add-ons and it usually tells me that IHG is incompatible so I remove/uninstall it. Then I simply search for IHG again and DL, once complete I restart FF and
voila! IHG is back in action. I leave my FF window open on the taskbar for as long as possible. Whenever I have to close it, usually for a shutdown, if IHG doesn't work after starting FF I just do the process over again. Small inconvenience for keeping such a great tool available.
The other small downside is that the host file reverts to the last updated version they provided and all user changes are lost. Practically all hosts still work with the given protocols except for a couple big ones, Imgbox and SomeImage. Once you re-install the Add-on, use the Host File Editor to add these syntax codes for those sites:
Code:
Host Label: ImageBox
URL Pattern: http:\/\/imgbox\.com\/\w+
Search pattern: "class="image-content""
Code:
Host Label: someimage
URL Pattern: ^https:\/\/someimage\.com\/(?!login|abuse|tos)?\w+$
Search Pattern: "ID: viewimage"
And there you have it. As of this post date, IHG should be good to go for just about anything.
