The "troubles" were raging here in Ireland. I don't blame them for moving downunder. My cousins were only infants. They grew up in Australia and have the aussie accent. My aunt has a weird mix of Irish and Aussie, my uncle has never lost his accent. I found Australia a fabulous place. And would recommend you visit. But i'm a home bird. I love Ireland and won't leave. My brother lives in Berlin and he's staying. But someone has to keep the home fires burning!
It's a long journey to Australia! The first time I flew the whole way. The Plane BA stopped in singapore, and I had to wait for two hours for the quantas flight to Brisbane. I sat on the roof of singapore airport in a pub. I ordered a pint of carlsberg-it went hot in two minutes The heat was incredible. Thank god you aussies have aircon or BB would have died!!
Migration is a curious thing to me

I know of 1 British couple who I've been told about by my relations who know them well came out here from England in desperate times as tourists with every penny they had to their name, with the sole intention of over staying their visa, spent 19 years on the run,had 2 kids here and ended up,when caught, with the choice of being deported but their kids could stay

Life is tough but most of are shielded from this kind of worst case scenario

I think our world sadly is far too economically driven
