'Black Lamb and Grey Falcon: A Journey Through Yugoslavia' by Rebecca West.

It's a large tome and I'm barely a third of the way through but it's been brilliant so far. I know very little about the Balkans but she gives descriptions of the places, history and people, and although it was written in the 1930s, she has a cheeky wit that has made me laugh out-loud more than once.
