Apologies if this is slightly off-topic, because it's not really something "new this week," but I am wondering if anyone has any idea what the situation is going to be with the UK Digital Economy Act when it comes into force in a few weeks time? This is the ridiculous (IMHO) legislation that will block UK access to porn sites without ID/age checks.
This is really little more than an assault on our freedom of choice, so HMG can please certain sections of the public and gain a few pathetic headlines about protecting children (from sex, rather than scenes of excessive violence, religious nonsense and political extremism). Doesn't say much for parenting, does it!
I'm certainly not willing to be on any plod accessed register as someone with an (obviously unhealthy) interest in disgusting sexual acts and I will simply drop out of looking at these kind of things online.
So, does anyone know if VEF can continue in its present form and what may happen?
