Thinking aloud: there's perhaps the potential for double+ handling/complications, e.g. if a thread's marked solved but then someone disputes that?... which would be more difficult in the "solved" sub-forum. Yes, one could post such a dispute in this thread so that door's not closed, but maybe that's an incentive to wait a little before moving solved queries to the solved sub-forum, rather than straight after? /shrug/ It's not only the originator who wants/needs(?) to "see" the solution.
