Giuseppe Valentini was an obscure composer in the middle Baroque period. Before he started to compose music he was a violinist, a poet, and a painter. He did not compose that much music. When he finally started to compose music he became known as one who created very inventive instrumental works. Though he was overshadowed by far greater composers like Antonio Vivaldi, Archangelo Corelli, and Pietro Locatelli, his contribution to Italian baroque music is noteworthy and many of his works were publised throughout Europe. This is a disc of his sonatas for violin, cello, archlute and theorbor.
