Frederick the Great King of Prussia was besides a brilliant military strategist during his reign that lasted from 1740 to 1786 a patron of music and a musician. He played the flute and composed over 100 flute sonatas and concertos. He also wrote 4 symphonies. My disc has three of his symphonies and one flute concerto.
