Default The tortured cyclist

Many years ago, a friend and I decided to ride our touring bicycles to Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose, Texas to see the dinosaur tracks. This was a hilly ride of 110 plus miles and occurred several years before the invention of the Walkman. So, midway through the ride a country song by Dan Fulkerson "Tombstone Every Mile" popped into my head. The tempo of the song perfectly matched that of my peddling. Here's the rub, I don't like the song. If fact, the only part of the song I know is the refrain: "If they buried all the truckers lost in them Woods There'd be a tombstone every mile . . ." So, that was going off in my head for eleven hours all the way up to Glen Rose AND all the way back the next day.
