Default Corel Paint Shop Pro

Hi all - for editing I've been using Corel Paint Shop Pro X for ever (for scanning I still use the clunky HP scanning program that came with my scanner, and for stitching Arcsoft Panorama Maker 3), however, now that Windows 7 and 8 are upon us, I'm thinking about updating or replacing PSP with something that can utilize Windows 7 (on my laptop - desktop at home still running XP) and beyond. Obvious choice is Paint Shop Pro X5. Does anyone have any feedback? Impression from Corel website is that X5 is more attuned to photos than scans and [porno]graphic projects!

Things I do most often: crop, straighten, adjust colour and brightness, copy, cut and paste, paste two images onto a blank background to create a merged double page image, resize, save as jpeg (I always work in tifs).

I also have Photoshop CS3, but it never really took off for me - I kept going back to PSPX.

Any and all feedback welcome, scan-meisters! Cheers, Rip
