In the past a severe problem evolved where people were registering only to make a request so our staff and regular members were wasting their time trying to help someone who had no intention of participating otherwise or giving something in return. This practice got so bad I remember seeing as many as five pages of requests in a single day; that's 100 requests! Obviously this put enormous pressure on the moderation staff and on the members who were trying to help.

As a result it was decided to establish the requirement of a member having received 150 Thanks before being permitted to start a model id request thread. This policy took effect on 10-19-2010, has worked very well, and will not be waived.
