Massive turn on. Or at least it could be. I much prefered to get served by a woman.
It was always exciting going in and picking the time right to avoid the chance of meeting someone else in the shop who might know me, however remote that was, picking one and boldly going up to the counter... I did always pick shops where I wasn't known or a 'regular' - I cycled miles and miles, no wonder I was so fit! - and usually liked the thrill of knowing that the woman thought I was a bit of a perve, even if they were snotty about it - which they very rarely were. Mostly they just seemed uninterested, as if it was what all boys did. (Which of course it was!)
The only time I ever had a real confrontation was when I dared to flick through a second mag after looking at one, and the extremely humourless harridan behind the counter shouted "Put that back, you're not going to buy it now you've seen it all." I wasn't at all embarrassed, just annoyed. I decided to refrain from explaining in graphic detail why seeing it all wasn't the point... just told her I would get one elsewhere and left.
I actually think I got more disapproval for buying Airgun World than porn, to be honest. Probably justifiably.
