Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf was originally born with the name Carl August Ditters. He was a well know composer during the Classical period in Vienna, Austria. He shuttled around from court to court and then wound up working for a prince in Austria who gave him the noble title of von Dittersdorf. Dittersdorf wrote many symphonies, concertos, chamber music (sonatas), operas, and church music. This disc has several selections: A viola concerto, one for double bass, and a sinfonia concertante (a small symphony-like piece for several instruments).
