Allan Holdsworth
1946 - 2017
Allan Holdsworth was not just another great guitar player. He changed the approach to this instrument like no other musician in the past 50 years. For me personally, Allan Holdsworth and Shawn Lane were the greatest guitar players in fusion and rock music of all time. Allan played with so many great musicians during his long path: Soft Machine, Jean-Luc Ponty, Tony Williams, U.K., Ian Carr's Nucleus, Bill Bruford and many more. But he always did his own thing and was never a mere hired gun. He was an influence and inspiration to all his colleagues.
The cause of his death is still unknown but he didn't look healthy in the most recent videos I've seen. It was Allan's daughter Louise who informed the public of his passing and can be read
here.
Rest in Peace, Allan. I've listen to your music for so many times that it feels like I lost a family member. You were a hero and inspiration to many.
