Switching to the NBA
Not surprised by the Warriors start. Besides the subtle effects of age, maintaining the focus and intensity necessary to win championships is difficult. This is what makes Bill Russell's Celtics so extraordinary. Steve Kerr is ragging on players about their conditioning. Nick Young may prove to be more disruptive than helpful. I am disturbed by Jerry West's comments that he was forced out in Oakland and the Young signing. Much of the chemistry came from character and camaraderie. Bringing in a selfish and lazy player is not a good sign.
On the other hand, who can knock them off? Many of the candidates loaded up on declining and set-in-their-ways stars. Minnesota may be worth a speculative bet. Vegas has them at 33 to 1. The Clippers are at 125 to 1, Memphis at 250 to 1. Any of those teams could win it with a lot of luck and motivation.
