Best way to save Images in Threads?
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to save images that have multiple pages on a thread? any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Depending upon your browser and platform - you can use browser plugins to capture single and multi picture selections. There will be more info in the help section of this forum. Use the main page search facility to find user recommendations.
If you are using firefox - then imageHost Grabber works just fine. slimol55 |
i have firefox, but i mainly use chrome
edit: I just installed that addon for firefox and man that thing is so great and it's fast! thanks for the recommendation slim, much appreciated! |
Trouble with downloading automatically especially entire threads is hosts thesedays are
becoming more and more unreliable If any server is too stressed the content on it wont download and you'll be none the wiser I've checked content that was deemed dead by the automatic downloader many times manually and found it to be alive Checking to see what hosts are in a thread and sampling them if your going for the entire thread is just smart Smarter is downloading in smaller batches of posts - 5 posts per page (maximum of 150 images in a post on VEF) The reason I say stay small is large all in one sessions - 40 posts per page can go very wrong if a hosts server goes offline - its like watching grass grow - as it checks each image and returns it unavailable - if you have image grabber set to check them multiple times even slower. - 5 posts - maximum 750 images versus 40 posts - up to 6000 images You can reduce or increase posts per page from the default 10 via your User cp - see directions below Before you use the automatic downloader TURN OFF SIGNATURES unless you want to end up with images in them Found user cp / setting & options / options / thread display options (half way down) - visible post elements - show signatures - untick Under that is - Number of Posts to Show Per Page Change to what you want and save at the bottom I used image grabber 1.6.5.5 for eons until imagehosts started to become unreliable With add-ons it always pays to check the authors homepage if the program starts acting up...several times there have been newer versions on it compared to the firefox page Now its 1 post at a time for me - less stress on their servers plus it gives more chance of getting ALL the content thats alive others swear by managers like Down Them All Complete rewrite as a webextension https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...n/downthemall/ |
Thanks for the tips buttsie. I did notice what you were talking about, where imageHost Grabber would say some images on a certain host aren't available, but I check it manually and they are there. So I will do that from now on, sample download a few images from a page at a time and check before downloading multiple now. Thanks again for the tips

ImageHost Grabber info.
Hey guys.
Just a heads up for those that may have missed it. IHG has changed their domain from a .com to a .eu and you need to make an edit to keep up to date. ;) From the IHG Forum: Change your host file setting to imagehost-grabber.eu (from host file editor) from http://imagehost-grabber.com/hostf.xml to http://imagehost-grabber.eu/hostf.xml to ensure you keep up to date after the big change. (The old URL will work until about June.) EDIT: Just changed mine, and got an update for the host file the first time I used it today. I hadn't seen one prior to that in a few weeks.;) |
Very helpful Boatguy; Thanks
Updating the Imagehost Grabber host file - how to: Firefox's menu -> Tools -> IHG -> Host File Editor -> Update from online host file -> OK. You can find it here too + the manual http://imagehost-grabber.eu/index.php?topic=3065.0 |
Here's a quick, down and dirty way to do it.
Right click in an open space on whichever page you are viewing.......go to ImageHost Grabber.....host file editor....click on modify hostf servers in the lower right....double click the host file that shows in the dialog box, and you can edit at will. Then, just save your changes. After changing it from .com, to .eu with this method, you should get the updated host file the next time you use it. ;) |

I use Bulk Image Downloader which is dynamite. Sometimes a few will be missed on slower sites. The trick is to remove the check nest to 'close when download is complete'. This way you can examine what is left. You can see if these are really existing pics by displaying thumbnails of them. Some may be banners or junk (or below the minimum you stipulated in options). If there's quite a few I usually reopen it a day later () you can save it) and find that many now download, imageview for one.
Recently very large JPG files have been posted and I find that BID cannot download anything over around 4000-5000 MB. Then I get them from the page. But most of the others that do not work don't work from the page either. I heard about BID from the VEF help pages. It was free but even the $25 price now is worth it. I've downloaded a couple of thousand in a couple of minutes. Constant improvements/updates. |

I also consulted this from the dl-site: Excellent add-on that has recently hit a couple of speed-bumps... two things have happened. 1) The Host File Server has changed from: http://imagehost-grabber.com/hostf.xml to: http://imagehost-grabber.eu/hostf.xml 2) With the automatic signing of AMO hosted add-ons (the .1-signed thing) the add-on was, in effect, reset to some really old version of hostf.xml So, defunct Host File Server address and an old hostf.xml file. The solution is to manually change the Host File Server to the newer address. Under the ImageHost Grabber menu pick: 'Host File Editor' and click the: 'Modify hostf servers' button. Use: 'Add Host File Server' to add: http://imagehost-grabber.eu/hostf.xml Use: 'Delete Host File Server' to remove: http://imagehost-grabber.com/hostf.xml Click: 'Update File' to confirm the changes. Exit the Host File Servers panel. Finally, click: 'Update from online Host File' to get the latest hostf.xml file. There is some discussion here: http://imagehost-grabber.eu/index.php?topic=3217.0 Doesn't help. It's either all or nothing in the IHG-Menu. Any Idea how to bring back the selected-images-only download function? |

< Good thinking, but didn't help. My IHG just remained stubborn until I found this:
http://imagehost-grabber.eu/index.php?topic=3203.0 The 1.7.0 version downloadable there brought back the 'selected only' feature instantly:) |
Image Host Grabber may be disappearing from Firefox on November 3:

Looking in my add-ons manager I see IHG falling under the category of being allowed...for now. |

to be on the safe side i recommend to keep a copy of the installation file for the actual Firefox version and install it / use it only inside a secure environment like Sandboxie. this way you may have a browser which gets insecure over the time but running it inside Sandboxie saves your OS/system/harddrive from any harm - and you can still use the old addons.. and inside your main OS, go on with newer Firefox versions. |
Does anyone know of an image downloader that will work with image hosts and allow you to create a selection rectangle over images you want saved?

latest Firefox and Imagehost Grabber | How to...
Right now Imagehost Grabber is still working fine, even in Firefox latest Nightly build 44.0a1 (at least version 1.6.6 does)
I'm using the latest version from http://imagehost-grabber.eu/imagegrabber-1.6.6.20140620.xpi Important for the plugin to work again is to go to "about:config" first and search for xpinstall.signatures.required and then set it to "false" (simply doubleclick on the value 'true') You probably also want to change the hosts server to it's new domain. To get there, open the Host File Editor (rightclick in a thread, choose "Imagehost Grabber" and then "Host File Editor". Towards the bottom right there is a button labelled "Modify hostf servers". Click on that. This opens a box labelled - wait for it - "Host File Servers". Click on Add Host File Server. Paste "http://imagehost-grabber.org/hostf.xml" Click OK and you're done. Regards, J4ZZ |
An email from our friends at the IHG Forum
Just received, and wanted to share with my VEF bros.
All ImageHost Grabber Forum members, Please be advised that we have moved the forum to a new URL: http://imagehost-grabber.org ... Previous URLs are obsolete. The new forum URL is the only place where you can get the latest IHG versions and host file updates. We urge you to change your bookmark and visit our new forum location. You must either set your host file server to http://imagehost-grabber.org/hostf.xml or download and install the latest version IHG 1.7.0.3 available here: http://imagehost-grabber.org/index.php?topic=3457.0 Note that if you are using an IHG version earlier than 1.7.0.3 or the version available from the Firefox add-ons site you are not getting host file updates including new host file solutions. The 1.6 series is also incompatible with some new host file solutions, so you won't be getting the best performance or all the image host sites unless you update to the latest release. Please visit our forum for the latest updates, and if you are unable to login use the "lost password" function to recover your password. This is a one time notification. You will receive no further notifications from the IHG Forum. We have moved and we don't want to leave you behind! Regards, The ImageHost Grabber Forum Team. http://imagehost-grabber.org/index.php |
Methinks there might be some confusion with this one, so here's a quick, easy way to get you're shit squared away. I've already received an update using this method. ;)
Just right click like you normally would, go to IHG.....host file editor....in the lower right, click on modify hostf servers....click add host file server, and paste http://imagehost-grabber.org/hostf.xml in. Delete the existing one, and you should be in business. |
Recently I had problems to download pics from someimage server using IHG, so looking around I've found this thread at IHG forum which solved the issue.
Here's the thread's URL: Code:

Good day guys. Just another heads up about IHG for those that may be experiencing problems. They've moved all of their update, and support forums to
hot-honeys. Initially, I thought this was bullshit, but it is the real deal. You need to download the new version that reflects the new host location from here. Updated mine this morning with no issues on a slightly older version of FF. |

Concur with Boatguy. I found this too. Tried downloading with IHG and it gave me a notice instead of the pic file with directions to upgrade FF or change host server. Easy instructions on hot-honeys. I changed host server instead of updating FF. Downloads all working well. |
Thanks for the tips in this thread, IHG is still the best ripping tool for my purposes so here's my lo-tech method that seems to keep it running. I have Firefox 42 or 43 and ignore alerts that want me to update it. When I start FF I open the Add-ons and it usually tells me that IHG is incompatible so I remove/uninstall it. Then I simply search for IHG again and DL, once complete I restart FF and voila! IHG is back in action. I leave my FF window open on the taskbar for as long as possible. Whenever I have to close it, usually for a shutdown, if IHG doesn't work after starting FF I just do the process over again. Small inconvenience for keeping such a great tool available.
The other small downside is that the host file reverts to the last updated version they provided and all user changes are lost. Practically all hosts still work with the given protocols except for a couple big ones, Imgbox and SomeImage. Once you re-install the Add-on, use the Host File Editor to add these syntax codes for those sites: Code:
Host Label: ImageBox Code:
Host Label: someimage |
Sound like something is wrong with your Firefox installation!?
Reinstalling Addons everytime I start my browser definitely isn't the way to go. ;) Have you tried my solution a few posts above and/or reinstalling FF 42? Btw. if you want to get rid of the Update Notifications open about:config and search for app.update.auto app.update.enabled app.update.silent and set all to "false". Then open explorer and enter "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla\updates" and clear that folder. Best J4ZZ |

Will only work as long as you don't click on Help -> About Firefox ;)

Ah well 'kay then they fixed it :D
You're right... I just checked. Cheers |
Will someone please post the current working URL Pattern & Search Pattern in their Imagehost Grabber host file for Pimp&Host? That's the one site that isn't working for me, the files clear off the board when IHG runs but nothing is ever downloaded from there so I would appreciate it.:thumbsup:

Pimp and host is still blocked in about 6 countries going by the imagehost issue thread
Not sure if thats bypassable as i've tried with an old version 1.6.5.5. in firefox with no result maybe the latest version does Fabrizio posted links here 30 1 2017 to the forum the developer moved to after his rejaction of firefox / mozillas path http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/sho...postcount=1954 otherwise it seems to be either one at a time via www.anonymouse.org or tinkering with your isp dns to open dns etc and bypassing the block http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/change-...rnet-security/ |

I don't know your locale, but I know our Aussie bros are having issues with them. ;) |

IHG official site host has been down for a year ... you can check if the site is up using your browser http://www.imagehost-grabber.com/hostf.xml I did manage to get a merge of only the new hosts from hot-honeys.com which was the support forum that IHG transferred to. plus i added the code above for the new pimp&host... |
