Do you mean the screencap pic? because that one shows up normally for me.

I had issues with imgbox bbcode after uploading not showing thumbs months back

It was like the bbcode was corrupted during uploading

I tried editing new uploads in and got the same result

So i used a different host - far quicker than playing detective

I only see one pic with the bbcode on the right via quote not showing a thumb

I've posted on imgbox recently - no thumbs missing

My point is the pic I have next to the screenshot is showing on 3 other sites where I copy / pasted the description to but not here . Seems to happen regularly here

The html of the post looks fine:

HTML Code:

<a href="http://imgbox.com/acsoujoC" target="_blank"><img src="http://t.imgbox.com/acsoujoC.jpg" alt="" onload="NcodeImageResizer.createOn(this);" border="0"></a> <br>
<a href="http://imgbox.com/admSutOP" target="_blank"><img src="http://t.imgbox.com/admSutOP.jpg" alt="" onload="NcodeImageResizer.createOn(this);" border="0"></a></div>

If I try to load the first thumb (http://t.imgbox.com/acsoujoC.jpg) I get a redirect ( 301 Moved Permanently). The redirect target gets a 404 Not Found.

Code:

curl -Lv http://t.imgbox.com/acsoujoC.jpg

I can think of two possible reasons for the different results on different forums:
  • browser cache
  • the forums somehow mangle the urls when rendering the html. Could you post the other forum page (I do not know if this is allowed) or the HTML snippet of the other forum (via "View selection source"). If the HTML is the same, its a browser thing. If the HTML is different, its a forum thing.

Rather than posting links to other forums here I suggest sending halvar a PM instead then he could post his conclusions here. Thanks.

halvar April 21st, 2018 05:02 AM

He already did that, sorry for not posting the result here.

The urls are different.
VEF:
HTML Code:

<a href="http://imgbox.com/acsoujoC" target="_blank"><img src="http://t.imgbox.com/acsoujoC.jpg" alt="" onload="NcodeImageResizer.createOn(this);" border="0"></a> <br>
<a href="http://imgbox.com/admSutOP" target="_blank"><img src="http://t.imgbox.com/admSutOP.jpg" alt="" onload="NcodeImageResizer.createOn(this);" border="0"></a></div>

the other links:
HTML Code:

<a href="http://imgbox.com/ScOn42v9" target="_blank"><img src="http://t.imgbox.com/ScOn42v9.jpg" alt="" border="0"></a>
<a href="http://imgbox.com/rTvL9JGi" target="_blank"><img src="http://t.imgbox.com/rTvL9JGi.jpg" alt="" border="0"></a>

That explains the effect. But we still do not how the different urls were created in the first place. Browser or forum software should not be the cause.

I once noticed on imgbox that the links I got immediately after uploading were different from the ones I got later by clicking on share.
But that is not always the case. I checked some of my posts and the links I get from imgbox now are the same I got after uploading. Maybe imgbox has some background process that detects duplicates, removes them and hands out the link to the original in future. But that is just guessing, we will never know how the internals work.

So this is still partly a mystery.

Maybe imgbox has some way of checking if you are logged in to your account, & gives you different access to your own uploads than someone unknown ... ?

e.d. :)
