Firefox 48.0.2 disables ImageHost Grabber

Just in anyone was unaware!

IHG works perfectly well with FF "clone" PaleMoon 26.3.2

buttsie August 27th, 2016 07:34 PM

Mentioning which version your talking about probably useful given the old version 1.6.5.5. on the firefox add-on site is about 2/3 versions behind the developers most recent.

I'd guess the firefox programmers will always be defaulting to 1.6.5.5. not the newest
given the developer has released several newer versions on another forum
but the page has never changed

old version 1.6.5.5.

The author is having a strop and refusing to develop this any further on Firefox.
It is now and forever disabled on all Firefox builds after v45

He suggests that you use it with the Pale Moon Browser, but its not Firefox!

Have it working again. Did some fiddlin around. You can find a workaround on the net somewhere for unsupported add-ons.
Have to flick a true to false setting (or vice versa) in the about:config page
probably is made undone if you upgrade ff to 48 or higher.

haldane4 September 16th, 2016 12:07 AM

Had it working in Pale Moon but it quit last week. I'm a bit mystified as to why there isn't more of a kerfuffle about losing imagehost grabber - how on earth do people save whole photosets now?

originalsman September 16th, 2016 03:00 AM

What to use instead of ImageHost Grabber

Try Bulk Image Downloader. Free version works, but is cumbersome. But, free is free!

Cheers. I updated Imagehost Grabber to the latest version - IHG 1.7.0.4a, maintenance release - available at the Hot-Honeys forum and it's now working again in Pale Moon.

Don't know if I can help, not so tech savvy, but IHG in FF always works fine for for me. Not a ton of d/ls but quite a few over months. Just checked it again. I always do one post (not thread) at a time. W7-32 FF48.0.2
In principle I never understood why FF would not want IHG to work but just my non-tech opinion.
Any ??s abt my setup will try to help.

Firefox 49 is out. Maybe a fix?

Or not...

No, FF new plugin model will never support Imagehost Grabber; IHG talks to the NPAPI (Netscape plugin architecture), no longer supported in Firefox; and IHG's original developer is off to do other things.

I keep a copy of "old Firefox" on my machine for this reason . . . I think you can still find the download.

Firefox Version

Could anybody suggest a Firefox version that would run on Vista? I have a laptop that is running Vista & my last Firefox { 47?}, got corrupted or Firefox just said we ain't running on Vista anymore & fucked me. I got a message when I tried to download the latest version - "we ain't running on Vista"; so-to speak. Thanks

(Google Chrome runs on my Vista, but has slowed down & freezes up the laptop frequently.)

Firefox Add ones

Sometimes third party updates come a few days after firefox releases a new update.

The newest version should work on Vista. See if this applies to your situation: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...ndows-xp-vista

Pale Moon 26.5.0

Latest update of this Firefox clone

IHG works fine :)

Midnight Air January 8th, 2017 09:04 PM

Yes, firefox 48.0 blocks ihg. even modifying the About:config file.
I am talking about the latest IHB at http://hot-honeys.com/index.php?topic=3210.0 which does not work.
The last firefox version which still allows ihg to work is firefox version 47.0.02. Dont forget to go to the about:config editor in firefox and change that setting to false ie:
xpinstall.signatures.required;---> change it to false by double clicking

here is a link to the 47.0 version US-en
http://download.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/...0/win32/en-US/

Upgrading to version 47.0.02 works with IHG as I have it now, however, not from 48.0 onward.
This works for me on my machine, PC windows 7. Hope that helps some of you that cant get 48 or later working. Version 50 definitely does not work.
So it's best to use firefox for IHG downloads, and perhaps chrome or opera or something else for banking etc, due to firefox 47 being more susceptible to viruses etc.

buttsie January 9th, 2017 04:44 AM

Its hardly a surprise the latest isnt working given their still offering the much earlier version
1.6.5.5. on their site

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...ehost-grabber/

I do wonder how great the differences are between the above
and the developers latest version

I use the earlier version occasionally with the latest ff and havent had any issues

Playing devils advocate - using an earlier version of any browser could be a risky thing

I have it working in firefox version 50.1.0, the below will allow the install of IHG and any other script that mozilla has blocked.

If you are still using the old version from the mozilla add-ons site remove it or disable it.
The developers moved it to here
Code:

http://hot-honeys.com/index.php?topic=3210.0]IHG 1.7.0.4a Released
If you want to use the outdated version from the mozilla add-on site the below will probably work on the old version also but it will not have all the updated hosts that the new version has.

first do this.
1. 1. in the address bar type about:config
2. in the search bar enter xpinstall.signatures.required
3. change the value to false by double clicking on it.
4. restart your browser

then do this this...
source.
Code:

http://www.ghacks.net/2016/08/14/override-firefox-add-on-signing-requirement/
simply move the 2 file to the folders listed below.
you can download the files from my site if you don't want to make your own.
config.js
Move the config.js file in the Firefox installation folder.
On Windows, this is either...
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\.

config-prefs.js
Move the file into the defaults\pref folder of the Firefox program folder.
On Windows, this is either...
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref

Restart your browser, goto
Code:

http://hot-honeys.com/index.php?topic=3210.0]IHG 1.7.0.4a Released
and install IHG

mental January 10th, 2017 12:00 AM

If imagetwist Does not work you will need to update it manually.

1. right click anywhere in your browser window, select imagehost grabber, then host file editor
http://thumbnails117.imagebam.com/52...5525469941.jpg

2. maximize the host file editor window
http://thumbnails117.imagebam.com/52...0525469943.jpg

3. click the select host drop down window
http://thumbnails117.imagebam.com/52...4525469944.jpg

4. click on imagetwist
http://thumbnails117.imagebam.com/52...a525469945.jpg

5. select all the code and delete it
http://thumbnails117.imagebam.com/52...3525469946.jpg

6. paste in the new code and save changes
http://thumbnails117.imagebam.com/52...9525469948.jpg

If the code is not what i shown below copy & paste the new code in.

new code

the URL Patern should be
Code:

^http:\/\/(?:www\.)?imagetwist\.com\/[a-zA-Z0-9]+\/?
The search pattern should be
Code:

function(pageData, pageUrl) {
    var iUrl = pageData.match(/src="(.+?)" class="pic.+?" alt="(.+?)"/);
    return iUrl ? {imgUrl: iUrl[1], fileName: iUrl[2], status: "OK"} : {imgUrl: null, status: "ABORT"}
}

7. restart your browser, it should work on imagetwist now.

Note: If IHG updates and imagetwist stops working repeat the steps above. ( Myself, i just dont let it update for now)

Неre words from developers of IHG:

" FireFox is changing: If you're using FF43 or 44 you can make IHG work but from about 45 onwards all add-ons will need signing.
IHG will not be signed.
Firefox will kill IHG soon anyway so it's not worth while getting it signed.

There is a lot of discussion about Firefox and it's change of model elsewhere on the forum (see the archives). The best advice for IHG users is quite simple -

Use Pale Moon for IHG

FireFox and Pale Moon work fine when installed together.
They also work without problems if they're both open at the same time."

Sooner or later, but users of IHG will be forced to leave Firefox. I migrated to Pale Moon (x64) back in september, it works without any problems on Win10 Enterprise LTSB x64.

There is some grabbers for Chromium-based browsers and for new version of Firefox, but there is no any absolutely FREE tool that can be compared with IHG and that can easily work with such hostings as new Pimp & Host or Imgtiger, for example.
As for Windows Edge - as of today there is nothing. Usual sterile product of microsoft.

glenna73 March 17th, 2017 03:22 PM

try the nightly version of firefox with imagehostgrabber latest update . It works

teodz1984 March 22nd, 2017 11:18 AM

Use Firefox 45.8.0 ESR (Extended Support Release)
Plugins still work for this version.
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo.../releasenotes/

Who is it for? https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/
Firefox ESR is intended for groups who deploy and maintain the desktop environment in large organizations such as universities and other schools, county or city governments and businesses.
Who is it not for?
Individual users who always want the latest features, performance enhancements and technologies in their browser without waiting for them to become available in ESR several development cycles later.

thelurker March 27th, 2017 01:30 AM

The imagehost grabber forum is unreachable since hot-honeys.com is down.
Hosts files cannot be updated.

interview1 April 2nd, 2017 05:23 AM

how download imagegrabber-1.7.0.4a.zip?

IHGSupport May 8th, 2017 12:41 PM

For those wishing to use software to download images from galleries.

You can use ImageHost Grabber.

Current Version: 1.7.0.4a

Current hostf.xml: 4/17/17

Support site and downloads are at:

https://imagehostgrabber.com

In regards to FF V > 45, please note Mozilla is forcing changes on extensions!

IHG WILL WORK ON > V45 please see our forum for a quick edit of some settings to activate IHG!

For V56+ Mozilla will NO LONGER ALLOW EXTENSIONS! Only their new "web extensions."

In that case you can use V55, or use alternatives such as PaleMoon, cyberfox, pcxfox, SeaMonkey, TorBrowser etc.. See list of supported browsers at our forum.

solarbear June 15th, 2017 06:34 AM

Palemoon is just like firefox, ihg installs on it easily from the imagehostgrabber.com site. pixxxels host isn't read though

you have to go to about:config in your address line and page down and find signatures required and toggle it to false

something about ihg isn't signed, so must be toggled on manually if it isn't showing up in the tools menu.

or go to settings and extensions to check to see if it is there, then you can follow the directions to activate it. i was having to do it about twice a week because FF would load and discredit the IHG add-on.

Pale moon is giving it credit though
