So... has anyone tried Firefox 5 yet?

I'm currently running a portable version of FF5 from a memory stick. It's quite nippy and as yet I've had no real problems with it. However, I would estimate that around 1/3 of my FF3 add-ons aren't compatible with FF5, which is why I'm not yet prepared to install it on my PC.

Thing is, VEF is still taking an eternity to load and navigate no matter what version I use.

Regards.

P.S. If anyone would like to try Portable Firefox 5 (which is a separate development licensed by Mozilla) you can get it via this link: http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable

does anyone know how to fix this????

On the good side - Imagevenue works much better in FF5 than IE.

Thanks

Its a common problem which is on the website side.Usually theres always at least 1 site which only IE can access but now theres an ff add-on to give you IE access
"1. What is IE Tab +?

Answer: IE Tab + is a Firefox extension which enables you to use the embedded IE engine within tabs of Mozilla Firefox. It is not only a great tool for web developers, like IE Tab, but also an useful tool for normal users, since you can easily switch to IE in TAB VIEW when you meet incorrectly rendered web pages in Firefox."

Currently the mozilla add-on page is out of date so you need to access it via the developers page link page

There are a few other versions which I'll confess I've never used so maybe worth looking at those as well as the reviews are up and down like a yo yo

4 on offer...2 claim to be FF5 compatible

Does anyone know of a firefox addon that will grab video files from keezmovies?

I usually use netvideohunter or Downloaderhelper, but neither of these seem to work with grabbing stuff from keez, very frustrating.

Thanks for any help.

EDIT - Managed to get downloadhelper working with it if I specify 'download' on the menu (rather than 'quick download' or 'download and convert'). :)

FF 6.0 just stops connecting afetr forums here.

Not sure which add-on but since I upgraded to FF6.0 it goes a few tabs here and on the forums stops working altogether. It just stops connecting to the net. At the same time I try Google Chrome and no issues at all even while FF 6.0 is inept here. I tried turning off extensions and add ons and it still happens.

I think its about time a few folks woke up and thought before they became mozillas latest batch of guinea pigs AGAIN

I liken their recent upgrade uptake by end users to watching lemmings merrily going over a cliff
Followed by "my god this isnt working"

The developers can say its an improvement on the previous version to which they'd be right
but what they cant guarantee is the add-ons or websites.

If you've upgraded I'd be taking the error console warning messages/see drop down menu under web developer tools over to their forums and asking till they resolve the issues.Just make sure you know what you have on your own system before you ask.

The choice seems logical to me

Upside = not much besides the usual we've fixed umpteen security exploits
(thats why i never run a browser without it being sandboxed...DOH!!!)

Downside = potentially plenty

The old cliche is as true as it ever was

"If it aint broke dont try and fix it"

Its a memory leakage issue...40 posts to a page is not recommended using ff6
It works initially but eventually you see the memory usage double or worse freeze

A separate article on CNET reported these are the first major performance changes for Firefox after a summer of complaints from a "vocal minority" about severe memory leaks and crashes

Supposebly it will be fixed in ff7

Firefox 7 promises better memory management

Edit

5 minutes of strolling around on ff7 beta...definitely faster...memory usage is close to 50% less
but it will more than likely be an individual thing as I run very few add-ons so 20/30% as mentioned in the review below probably closer to the mark

edit.....the memory usage seems to rise if you stay online for hours and hours until you run cc cleaner and wipe away all the browsing temporary files etc

Image downloaders

Imagegrabber and Imagehost grabber
are both working for me -
but I'm now using Firefox 6.0.1

Those add-ons may have been updated to the point
where they are no longer compatible
with older versions of the browser.

noscript tutorial:

Thanks - this looks useful, I watched the tutorial and installed the noscripts add on, but it seems like I've got the same problem that I have with Imagegrabber and Imagehost grabber - I installed the add on, but nothing happens. After installing, I restarted Firefox as requested and noscripts shows up in my list of add ons, but there is no icon on the bottom right hand side of the screen and it doesn't seem to be running. I installed redirector a couple of months back and that works fine and is very useful, - there is a big 'R' at the bottom right of my screen that I use whenever a new and annoying popunder appears. I don't know why I can't get these add ons to work, it's like there's something not enabled or switched on somewhere. I have searched through the options under Tools, File and View but I cannot work out what is going wrong. I didn't make a contribution to any of these - I figured that I would try them out first and if I use them a lot and they work well, then I can go back later and give the developers something. But that shouldn't be causing the issue should it? I've got Firefox 6 on my main PC and Imagegrabber and Imagehost grabber are inactive in the same way on that too.
