A porn legend. Condolences to his family.

Condolences. Absolutley.
A man willing to take on the God Botherers and prudes. His magazines went much further than M**f*?/r in terms of how the models posed and of course without his publications we would'nt have had Fiona Richmond , Linzi Drew , Niccki Stewart and my all time fave Andrea Clarke.
The mans 's done his shift
RIP.

a very skilled business man who moved into property, apparently he owned most of Soho. He became on of the UK's richest people. He never really got over the death of his daughter who he groomed to take over his empire.

an end of an era really. The end of the 'golden years' of UK glamour. My condolences to his family

He was the biggest thing in this country when it came to publications before that upstart Sullivan came along-he was legit and opened the Revue Bar in London at a time when such places were constantly being raided-he legitimised and made magazines less sleazy especially M-Fair and other publications. He determined that if his places were licensed for members only he could get away with sex acts - mostly wierd vignettes and sets (I hasten to add I was too young to have seen any of this, but there was a good documentary on him on Channel Four a few years ago) I think his daughter Debbie took over the running of his empire later. A sad loss.

I grew up with his mags. Much as I liked the raunchiness (for then) of David Sullivan's wank mags, the girls in Raymond's mags were always class acts. Cant say I've bought one of them for years, but its always nice to come across old copies that bring back memories. He was a great pioneer of British porn.
If the Channel 4 doco on him last year was anything to go by, I dont think his later life was all that happy for him, richest man in England or not. His daughter Debbie took over from him but she died of an overdose in the early 90s.

in many respects Paul Raymond is the patron saint for this whole site. He changed the UK's adult magazine market practically single handed. A lot of this site is based upon his work. To me he was the high point in what you could call 'natural' glamour. That is before all the over airbrushed, over cosmetically augmented, models.
truly he represents what this site is about, the appreciated of classic glamour.

Robbs celeb oops site - Robb Douglass RIP

Hi All.
I have noticed that one of my greatest sources of pictures for the last ten years seems to have gone. Robb Douglass's Celeb Site hasn't been updated since 4th March, which is a long time considering he used to update twice a wekk at one time. I know he had health problems a couple of years back, an old friend of mine Brumbob used to mail him regularly, but I hadn't heard of anything lately to explain his absence from updates.
Can anyone else shed any light on what has happened to Robb, or indeed my friend Brumbob who i also lost contact with a couple of years back due to his move over to Spain. (He would know me by this name, in fact he is largely responsible for this handle on all my sites.) He was as big a collecter of celeb and model pix as i am now, and i'd love to get into contact with him again. I did try the last email addy i had for him but got no reply.

Thanks in advance for any help in either matter. Pharoah.:)

They've just updated the site telling that Robb died a couple of days ago. He had been ill so he wasn't able to update the site and now he's gone. That's sad.

"Robb Douglass apologises for not updating the site anymore but he died unexpectedly on 25 April after taking antibiotics for a chest infection. Thanks to all who have supported this site."

That is indeed sad news, OOps was and still is a great site.
Sorry for your loss pharoahegypt, a sad day for all.
One of my early finds and book mark sites when I first came on line.
