I believe that absolutely. The same was/is true in Afghanistan. No one wants to be ruled by a foreign power

You have the clock, but we have the time, as they say

I really really really like a real good and worthwhile war :D

Like the war between men and women that's been going on since Adam and Eve :D

But I liked this war

THE WAR OF THE ROSES

There's one scene where Kathleen Turner throws a pot at Michael Douglas  Sends shivers up my spine, brings back the memory of me having a pasta strainer thrown at me :D

And the end of the film, where they kill each other

In 480BC,After the epic last stand of Leonidas and the Three Hundred Spartans (Plus 1700 other Greeks),The Spartans put a bounty on the head of Ephialtes, the traitor Who betrayed Them.He was actually killed in a private quarrel but the Spartans,Being sticklers in these matters,Sent the money to His killer anyway.

Suicides

It's said that up to 200.000 Vietnam vets have committed suicide since the war. Other studies/reports say about 5.000 vets kill themselves each year, a ratio of 1,7:1 to 'expected' suicides

No national statistic reports this

The USA is funny that way Palo5. You're a fair-haired hero when it's time to sign up and while the casualties mount up. Your country can't do enough for you until you bring your problems home. Then you're a do-nothing drag on the system that needs to shape up and quit whining. The country is lukewarm about tending to any physical problems related to your service and downright hostile to treating any mental problems. We don't mind spending trillions to create veterans that need help but we resent every penny spent to help them when they get home.

The US is by no means unique there. But I thought it had to be said
