Sad news - Goodbye, Bettie!

I'm a bit surprised not to have found a mention already. Bettie Page passed away today. Fondly remembered by many of us who are no longer in the first bloom of youth.

Betty Page

A real icon has passed away, Betty Page. She was one of the top models that photographed beautifully, in both color & black & white. When I was in Amsterdam & Paris in 91' I couldn't believe how she was reverred in all the shops, especially Amsterdam. I started collecting her images from the internet, after that over seas trip. I can't wait for the new flood of images to come. A great tribute book that I bought is "Betty Page-The Life of a Pin-up Legend". It is a fantastic book on the life of the great Betty Page. It has some of the best re-productions of her images I have ever seen. If you want to see the power of those great film cameras, check her out! Just think of all the images/negatives that Klaw & the other photographers had to burn/destroy as a result of the phoney US governmental persecution in the 50's! Maybe Hefner will publish his collection??? Maybe, some the other great photogrphers that might be still living, that photographed her, with their collections will come forward & release their works???

After her troubled middle years she found renewed recognition and acceptance at last. What else can I say but "may you rest in peace, Bettie, you were one of the loveliest-looking women who ever lived".

Sadden to start the day like this - RIP to the Beautiful Babe - Never to be forgotten.

There have been many models before her and after her, but few if any have been as much loved and respected as Betty, long after the prudes and conservatives have been forgotten Betty's name will live on.

R.I.P Betty, many thanks for all of your work.

RIP Bettie.

On top of everything else that's been said about her in this thread
the lady had one thing more-CLASS! Unlike the bleach-blond fake
boob job bimbos of today.

Couldn't have said it better. An intelligent, affable, charismatic, genuine beauty.
Rest in peace, Bettie Mae Page
