I know of 1 British couple who I've been told about by my relations who know them well came out here from England in desperate times as tourists with every penny they had to their name, with the sole intention of over staying their visa, spent 19 years on the run,had 2 kids here and ended up,when caught, with the choice of being deported but their kids could stay Life is tough but most of are shielded from this kind of worst case scenario I think our world sadly is far too economically driven |

But when they discovered gold, everything changed and Englishmen begged to be deported :D |
It is a myth that the red back and funnel web spider or any number of snakes etc will kill you if you go to Australia. The fact is that more people end up in hospital due to the fact that one of those spiders hides in various places including the famous outback 'dunny' or toilet because they envariably panic and crash their cars or fall off places, bang their heads etc. Australia has more than enough vaccines to counter any spider or snake bite so it is not as fatal as myth would have it. You are just as likely to be in more danger of being bitten by Britain's only venomous snake the Adder, than a bite from a funnel web. Australia is perfectly safe, just don't challenge a kangaroo to a boxing match :D What might do you more harm is sunstroke from the heat or sunburn from the err sun.:) I went in 1993 to Perth & Melbourne and I never saw any spiders or snakes but was warned about them-if you were bitten, you will feel quite ill but it would be treatable as long as you got to hospital within a few days.

When America became independent, the British made Australia their new Gulag  Of course, Americans and Australians weren't responsible for these decisions. They are not guilty - so are Siberians for later Gulags  |
