You can not join these files using HJ Split, he did not post that way.
However, there are other ways to join the files, such as Windows Movie Maker, which may be installed on your pc.

I sometimes use the Video Edit Master, which is easy to use and effective.

You need a program that joines avi-files. The .001, .002 etc, extensions are created by Hjsplit when it splits up a movie into pieces. You can't just change your files by renaming the extensions because Hjsplit won't recognize them as it hasn't created them.
Just Google " free avi joiner" and take your pick. But realise that these programs can take quite some time to join that may chuncks into one movie.
