Just been watching a re-run of Top Of The Pops from 1982 :o
Yeah it's my own fault :p but they found one presented by Simon Bates, one of the few Radio One DJs who doesn't have impending kiddy-fiddling charges :D Anyhoe, got caught-up in the video to the Stevie Wonder & Paul McCartney song Ebony & Ivory , so 80s :thumbsup: ....after watching that Simon Bates introduced a surprise guest, Paul Macca 'wacky thumbsaloft' McCartney himself along with a gum chewing Linda ;):) Simon Bates asks about the last time Paul was on TOTP some 8 years ago then says, "There's someone special you want to say hello to?" "Yeah we'd like to say hello to Heather who has just bust her leg, get well soon kid OK";) :o Hmmmm |
Genuinely moved by an hour-long tribute & remembrance of Sir Terry Wogan just shown on BBC1
Just been laughing, crying & recalling what an integral part of my life and of everybody who saw or heard the many radio shows and television programmes hosted by The pillar of British cultural broadcasting. God bless you Sir. What a man, such a presence, so amiable, funny & genuine and a dear friend to all who tuned-in to see & hear him. Fantastic |
"How many listeners do you have?" someone asked Sir Terry, at the time of him having 7 to 8 million every day....
"Just the one!" he'd replied.... showing the true character of the man... |
I echo that of Sir Terry, there will NEVER be another quite like him. I absolutely used to love Blankety Blank when he came out waving that long stick microphone and I remember when Kenny Everett got hold of it and bent it for him-the look on his face was priceless but he was the consumate professional especially when doing his chat show-the Bette Davis and Anne Bancroft interviews were cringeworthy(on their part) and Nicolas Cage & George Best embarrassing(to them) but he took it all in his stride. Children in Need this year is going to be a very empty affair without him. We miss him and will miss him for years to come. Taken far too early IMHO.
