Let me explain the current political situation

Hey there. I know you are frustrated, hungry, and tired. A lot of you are also unemployed and feel powerless to do anything about it. In your confusion and disarming, you might feel tempted to towards hate and fear.
Fear not! I have come to explain the political situation in the United States of America as it relates to the common citizen.

The answer to all political questions in the United States is :

Nobody expects the middle and poor working classes to survive.

Understand? :)

Why? You can't just sum up a complex situation in a couple of lines.

They always have and always will,

Another way of looking at it is...........
Should the poor not survive, The least richest person is the new poor ;)

You sir, are absolutely 100% correct.
However, you are overlooking one important aspect: whoever said it was the middle and poor working class that had to keep "the rich rich?" That is what other countries are for. China is growing, but it won't last forever. Turkey and Poland have the world's 17th and 18th largest economies respectively.

You see, the education system was lobbied to U.S. Federal Government on behalf corporations to improve working skills of U.S. citizens. The middle class in America was formed by unions and support from Catholic church.
Today, with highly advanced technology - and it will improve (see: robotics over the next 100 years) - manufacturing televisions, video games, cars, etc. a small standing work force of highly paid professionals is not required. An enormous standing work force of below poverty line workers laboring for a pittance serves just as well. Highly skilled jobs requiring masters and doctorate degrees? Simple enough: it doesn't take thousands of masters and doctorates to develop high technology; a few will do.
Technology for the middle and poor working class in America - who cares. Their tech is cheap, breakable, and replaceable (see: manufacturing in Pakistan, China, Mexico, etc.)
You might ask about roads and infrastructure. Why repair a road and highway system for people who don't have the money to travel in the first place?

The disaster at Katrina. Last year's tornadoes in the South. Earthquake and hurricane Irene in the East and New England. Accute water shortage in the South-West U.S.

Nobody expects the middle and poor working class of U.S. to survive.

I am sure one of these fine people will rise up to save the middle and poor working class from their problems.

The current prosperity of China will lead only to the collapse of communism.

When you have nothing and the system wants to take from those who have and give it to you, then you are all for that system. Now that more people are haves as opposed to have nots redistribution doesn't seem so wonderful. As the hard line communists die off they will be replaced by soft socialists then democrats.

As the western world loses more jobs and prosperity the call for redistribution will become louder. As the hard line capitalists die off they will be replaced with soft socialists then communists.

In none of the scenarios do we need or have the will for dictatorships or royalty. Although during transition phases they may rear their ugly heads.

Let me know when this much toughted American exceptional-ism kicks in.
Most citizens of the U.S. seem to want Church and State to be combined into one all powerful entity. You(speaking generally) want Jesus? You are going to need him.

American exceptionalism was exported with NAFTA and bought off with Republocrat entitlements.

No, We the People don't want to combine Church and State, but a little morality in our politicans would go a long way. A smidgen of Common Sense wouldn't hurt either.

There is only a small but vociferous minority who want a combination of church and state. Not as a state-sponsored theocracy (although there are some who do want that) but laws that reflect "Judeo-Christian" principles, such as anti abortion laws, prohibition on gay marriage, sponsorship of "faith-based" movements, etc.

What they really want is a blind faith in a "church" that tells the masses that it's possible to get rich and being rich is what "god" wants.

Margaret Atwood wrote a terrific book called the "Handmaid's Tale" which was later made into a movie by Volker Schlöndorff starring Natasha Richardson which dealt with the issue of combining Church and State.

A group of fundamentalists overthrow the government and install a puritanical military theocracy. It is sold as a "better for everyone" ideal which as usual turns out to be best if you are part of the "everyone" running things.

I could see the Tea Party, Pat Robertson and their ilk wanting this very badly. Coincidentally, Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell campaigned loudly to have the book and movie banned, which they were, in the American Bible belt. Could Ms. Atwood have given away their plans?
