When Maude first aired in 1972, I was only five years old. By the time it went off the air, however, I was eleven. At some time between the beginning and the end, I had suddenly noticed that the women on TV had actual breasts. :eek:

Was I obsessed with her since childhood? Not exactly. In a way, however, she was there for me at the moment I crossed over from childhood to adulthood.

I was 18 years old, at college and thus truly away from home for the first time. I had been watching my Dad's porn tapes pretty much since home video hit it big between 1976-78. Now, however, I had my first chance to buy some for myself.

One of the first titles I discovered was Alice in Wonderland.

You see, in the late 80s the only VHS available of Alice in Wonderland was a softcore cut; there were only rumors that it had originally been filmed as an all-out porn film. I, however, did not know this yet. In fact, I didn't even know I had bought a softcore tape until I brought it back to the dorm and popped it into the VCR, playing it for all my friends in our floor's lounge.

Well, my friends were pissed. They had been promised hardcore, and they felt cheated. I, however, saw the bigger picture. Kristine DeBell was smoking hot!
