Buying Porn Magazines, was it a turn on for you?

I always looked a bit older than I was. When I had some spare cash I used to bunk off from school and buy a few mags from a nearby Asian newsagent who had a surprising good selection - mostly Playbirds, Whitehouse and a mag called Cockade (which has got to be the best name for a wank-mag ever.)
The guy in the shop was pretty cool and never batted an eyelid when I bought this stuff. Eventually i plicked up courage to go to a porn-video shop which used to be on Tottenham Ct Road. The old geezer insisted I got something good and went to a lot of trouble to find a Sarah Young tape for me in the stock. Orgy in Paris - which was a gangbang. So yeah - good experience all round.

I used to make the rounds, checking every news stand in town.

I figured that if I bought some beer, that I could check out the magazine rack. The classic line, while I desperately searched for the latest Nancy Suiter, from the cashier was: "This is not a library."

I was a regular buyer in my younger days but was always rather embarassed. Preferred to be served by a male rather than a female.

I was the opposite of DaveCooper, I always looked younger than I was. Heck, I didn't have to shave more than once a week until I was 22! Well, I would have bought a hundred cases of shaving lather if only I could have looked 18 instead of 14. I was delayed in some hormones, but not others!
The first time I screwed up enough courage to buy one I was in Harvard Square at the Out-Of-Town News. I did it all wrong. I acted suspicious. I paced up and down the aisles twice. I grabbed some European fashion mag, then I grabbed copy of Panthouse. I inched up to the the counter trying to act coy with the fashion mag on top of the Panthouse.
The broad behind the counter was some kind of ballbusting feminist sporting a NOW* pin on her lapel. Just my luck.
She looked at me askance and crowed:
"How old are you?"
"Eighteen," I replied soberly.
"I'm going to need some positive identification," she chided. She most likely confused me with one of the skateboard kids who loitered in Harvard Square. I wore bleached punky hair and ratty Army/Navy store fatigues.
I placed my state-issued ID on the counter. She glanced up at me and back down at my photo and back. I had to bite my tongue to keep from asking her if she wanted to call my mother. She returned the card to me in sour defeat.
"Would you like a bag?"
I murmured yes, thankful the dreaded transaction was over.

That was the only time I got carded for porn at a newsstand. I got a few dirty looks. On the other hand, I got a few dirty looks just buying soda and chips! Some clerks are just dirty lookers, I guess.

I got carded at strip clubs and sex shops where they were more nervous. I just picked the wrong store and the wrong cashier for my first.

My friend had a job at a convenience store and he was an even bigger porno fan than I, so I used to pick up mags when he was working.

I never found the act of purchasing porn magazines a turn-on. I was too self-conscious. I actually preferred the dedicated porn shops because everybody was there for the same thing!

*National Organization of Women, Gloria Steinem's women's rights group. No, I don't have a problem with feminists. I'm all for the advancement of women in society. I have a problem with man-hating nutcrushers!

There was one newsagent I used to go to when I was about 15 or 16. He always used to shake his head and look disapprovingly at me when I bought a magazine from his shop, I never understood why he sold porn if he was so put out by it. There was a woman in her early 40s who sometimes worked in that shop aswell and I always liked getting served by her, the simultaneous rush of blood to my face and to my cock always felt great. I suppose I always had the teenage porn fantasy where she say to me "you don't need those magazines, come into the store room and I'll show you a real woman", sadly it never happed but often when I got home I would have a wank thinking about her and her big boobs before I even opened the magazine.

The men's magazines at the Mom and Pop shop by our house were always kept on the highest shelf above the newspapers and comic books, out of reach unless you used the step stool they kept on the side. Growing up my friends and I would go in and 'shop' for comic books while mostly staring at the covers of the mags on the top shelf. One day, I think I was about 15, I went in alone to pick up a newspaper for my Dad and was looking up when I felt Mrs. Weiss, the owner, standing next to me. She very matter-of-factly asked me if there was a particular magazine I wanted to see - I immediately turned red and looked down thinking she would scold me. She must have known she embarrassed me and said something like, it's ok and pulled the stool over. She was standing above me, her ass just about at my face and I was looking up at her - I remember pointing out an issue of Club magazine and when she reached up to get it her hemline lifted and I could see her stocking tops, I swear I could smell her too!

She got down and went to the register, rang me up putting the mag inside Dad's paper. This scene repeated itself in various ways over the years, I would always look for times when Mrs. Weiss was in the shop alone without her husband imagining she would make some kind of move on me (never) - and of course, she became a major inspiration for my wanking.

My nearest local newsagent in my teens didn't sell top-shelf mags, but even if they had, I'd never have had the nerve to buy one there- their daughter used to help out in the shop at weekends, and she was in the same class as me at school!

The question of what to do if a woman was behind the counter when you went to buy a mag has been discussed a bit in the 'Your first wank over a mag' thread.
http://www.vintage-erotica-forum.com/t93479-p11-your-first-wank-over-a-mag.html

As I remember, a popular theme for readers' letters in Mayfair and the like, used to be stories of going into the shop to pick up the latest issue of your favourite mag- and picking up the woman behind the counter as well. No, it never happened to me either...

Certainly back in my teens, finding a woman behind the counter was enough to have me aborting mission and either rushing back out the door, or just buying a bar of chocolate instead, although later on I was much more laid-back about it.

There was still the occasional scary moment though- I've already told this story in another thread, but back in my early 20's my local Asian newsagent was often staffed by his wife, or their daughter, a student at the local college who helped out at weekends.

The mother always looked at me as if she thought I was a total pervert when I bought a mag, but finding the daughter in the shop was even worse- Not only did she do the 'Look of Disapproval' even better than her mum did, but she was about 19/20, absolutely gorgeous, and I seriously fancied her!

So now, not only do I get a disapproving stare from the girl behind the till when I buy a mag, but I'm also desperately hoping she won't notice the hard-on I've just got because while I was waiting to be served, I couldn't help imagining her posing like the girl on the cover of the mag I'm about to buy...:o

Her mum was probably right about me!:D

A turn-on:eek: the few times I was a shaking wreck! I tried to find a newsagent with a bloke serving. But then I found wankers heaven;) a newsagent who catered for teenage wankers like me:D he used to keep whitehouse etc behind the counter, and would show them to you if you wanted. I bought club and men only mainly. He put them in a brown paper bag or inside that newspaper you never read:D

I had a few aborted missions too when I was younger, wrong staff on etc but one of my worst shopping trips was this. I was in town with my wife to be and she said ' I'm just going in this shop for ten minutes'. While waiting I drifted into the mag shop and on impulse grabbed a copy of Escort. I paid and rushed outside and once in another shop doorway rolled up the leg of my jeans and rolled the mag around my leg and tucked it into my sock. We then went to her parents for the afternoon and evening meal all the while me sitting there hoping the mag didn't fall out or anyone see it or me making sure it was still tucked in. I was also desperate to get home and look at at the book too. I never repeated that buying method again.

He sold porn because it made money! A prude knows the bottom line as well as a libertine. Personally, I'd rather sell porn to people than cigarettes because wanking doesn't shorten your life...at least I hope it doesn't! If it does, I might expire before midnight!
